Email layout
The logo, colour, footer and design of the emails your customers receive; ready-made layouts, your own HTML layout, test sends and holiday emails.
The email layout is the design that wraps your message: your logo at the top, the message in the middle and a footer at the bottom. You'll find it under Management › Bulk messages › Email layout. Only the firm owner (or a user allowed to manage settings) can change it.
You can choose a layout in three places:
- Firm default: Used for every email where nothing else is chosen.
- Per broadcast, rule or template: In New broadcast, Automatic rules and Templates, choose from the Email layout list when the channel is Email.
- Plain (no wrapper): Only the message text, with no design.
Choosing a ready-made layout
- Open the Email layout tab.
- Look at the cards under Ready-made layouts; each has a small preview. Press Large preview to enlarge it.
- Press Make default on the one you like. All emails without their own choice now use it.
- Holiday and special-day layouts (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, 29 October, New Year, birthday and so on) are meant for the rules of those days; you don't need to make them the default.
Brand details
Ready-made layouts take your logo, colour and footer from here.
- In the Branding and default layout card, enter your logo's web address in Logo address. It must start with https://.
- Pick an Accent colour with the colour box or type one like #7367f0.
- In Footer, write the text shown at the bottom of every email, such as your address and phone.
- Choose the Default layout.
- If Send order notification emails with this layout too is on, automatic emails such as order received or delivered use the same design. If it's off, only bulk messages are wrapped.
- Press Save.
Adding your own layout
Someone who knows HTML can add your own design.
- Press Copy and edit on a ready-made layout, or New layout.
- Enter a Name.
- Edit the HTML. Write
{content}where the message should go; it is required and must appear exactly once. - The HTML is checked as you type and a live preview is shown. Problems are listed below with reasons, like Line 12: ….
- When no problems remain, Save becomes active; press it.
Placeholders you can use:
{content}— the message text (required){company_name}— your firm's name{logo}— your logo (as an image){logo_url}— your logo's address{accent_color}— your accent colour{footer}— your footer{year}— the current year
Why is HTML rejected? To protect your customers and your firm's email reputation, faulty or harmful HTML is not cleaned up and sent — it is not saved at all:
- Script, form and iframe tags — no code can run in an email.
- Event attributes such as onclick, and
javascript:links. - Images and resources that aren't https — they cause insecure-connection warnings.
- Misleading links whose visible address leads somewhere else — these count as phishing.
- Unclosed or broken HTML.
- Placeholders that aren't in the list.
Manage your own layouts from the list with Preview, Edit, Make default or Delete. Rules using a deleted layout show "Deleted layout" in the list; choose a new one for them.
Test send
- In the editor, press Send me a test.
- The test email goes to your account's email address; the address is shown on screen.
- Check the layout in your inbox. Tests are never sent to customers.
Setting up holiday emails in advance
- In the Calendar tab, click the holiday; the rule form opens with the holiday selected.
- Choose Email as the channel; the holiday's ready-made layout is selected for you.
- Write the message, choose the recipients and press Save.
- The emails go out automatically on the day. Details: Bulk messages › Calendar.
Who receives it and who doesn't?
- A commercial message goes only to customers who have consented; an information message only to customers who allow notifications.
- Customers in Customers to exclude never receive it.
- Customers without an email on file and inactive customers don't receive it.
- Details: Who receives it and who doesn't.
Having trouble?
- Save is disabled: Fix the listed HTML problems and fill in the Name.
- The logo doesn't show: The logo address must start with https:// and be publicly accessible.
- The tab is missing: It is only available to the firm owner or users allowed to manage settings.
