Customer portal accounts

The customer's portal login account, the account status filter, single and bulk activation invitations, and employee accounts with limited permissions.

Customers sign in to the portal to place and track orders. Most customers imported from the old system have no account yet.

Finding customers without an account

  1. On the Customers page, choose Without account in the second filter.
  2. In the list, No account appears next to customers without an account, and Invited next to those who were invited but haven't set a password yet.

Inviting a single customer

  1. Open the customer's card and go to the Customer panel accounts section.
  2. Click Create account and send invitation. If an invitation was sent before, the button reads Resend invitation.
  3. If the customer has an email, the activation link goes by email. If not, the link goes to the mobile phone by SMS, from your own SMS account. The link is valid for 7 days.

Sending invitations in bulk

  1. On the Customers page, click Send account invitations.
  2. The dialog shows how many customers will get it, how many will be skipped because they were invited in the last 7 days, and the email text.
  3. Click Send to {n} customers. Invitations are queued; about 30 emails are sent per minute.

Good to know

Opening accounts manually and employee accounts

You can also open an account without an invitation in the New account area of the customer card:

  1. Enter an email and, optionally, a full name.
  2. If you untick All permissions, the account gets only the permissions you select: View orders, Place orders, Invoices and payments, API and webhooks.
  3. Click Create account. A temporary password is shown once; the customer changes it at first sign-in.

The first account can also sign in with the mobile phone in the customer record. Other employees of the customer sign in with their email, so they need one. To change an existing account's permissions, click the button next to the account; it opens the permissions dialog. Changes take effect within 15 minutes at most.

Tip: The place orders permission also turns on view orders.
